Go Big Or Go Home

One thing I learned in life is you Go Big Or Go Home no matter what your doing. Whether its moving out of state, or starting your own business, you always give it all you got. "I live by 'Go big or go home.' That's with everything."

True individuality is more about being in tune with who you truly are, whether you're expressing yourself physically, mentally, or spiritually; individuality arises from living without fear of what other might think or say about you and without being swayed by their opinions, leaving you free to lead life without caring about judgments made by the outside world.

Helping others without any expectation and without gain is just as much a gift to yourself as it is to the person you give to. Where you come from, what you look like, and what your past holds do not define you as an individual--you are what you make yourself to be. Strength doesn't necessarily come from resisting fear, weakness, or any other feeling and overcoming it. Strength comes from looking at those things straight on--and accepting them as they really are.

Tips For Approaching Blogs With Your Music

It may sound obvious but read the descriptions that are included in The Music Blog Directory and focus your time and energy on blogs that fit your style of music.

Hit the link, go their website and read the last few posts, you may just discover a new blog to follow. Remember that you are asking the blogger to become your new fan, so it could certainly help your cause if you have already returned the favor.

Some blogs have strict music submission guidelines. Music submissions are a part of the game. It is also another way for a blogger to test if you have taken the time to read their blog or not.

Please don't mass email blogs! Take the time to Take the time to craft each individual email, address them by name, include a few personalized details you've learned through your research or casually mention a post of theirs that you enjoyed.

You are asking the blogger to take the time to listen to your music and hopefully write a review, take the time to  personally email each blogger which is why we included this information in The Music Blog Directory.

One of the worst mistakes to make is to send a generic email around to a list of bloggers.

Subject Lines are like tricky first dates. Awkward but necessary and if you make a bad first impression then it can be difficult to recover!

It is best to keep subject lines simple, descriptive and personal. The ideal number of characters in a subject line is typically considered to be between 20 and 35.

You want the recipient to know right away exactly why you're emailing. If your subject line doesn't grab the person, your message is likely to get deleted on the spot. Avoid ALL CAPS, jargon, and the term "Press release" in the subject line.

Universally all the bloggers said they delete any emails that have "Press Release" in the subject line. Plus they get annoyed with all caps and industry jargon. Don't plea with people to "Open Me!"

Bloggers receive hundreds and hundreds of emails a day so do not be disheartened if you do receive a response on your first try. Chances are they have not even read your email. Don't overwhelm them with long windy emails...you have 3 sentences to catch the bloggers attention so keep it short, sharp, genuine, interesting and to the point.

We have all heard the phrase "what's the story" and no that's not where did you grow up and what ashes your music rose from (unless of course you grew up on a remote part of Antarctica and learn to play music in the ashes of the fire that kept you alive in the cold harsh winter)
"The Story" is simply what makes you and your music different from every other band out there.

Watch For Snakes

Now and day's, you have to watch the friend your hanging with. I like to call most of them snakes in the grass. Friendship is a lot like falling in love. You meet someone. You find that you two have the same interests (“You like coffee? No way! Me too!”) and you hit it off from there.

What we seem to forget along the way is that friendship is based on give and take. You do something, and the other returns the sentiment. Not out of obligation, but because there’s a mutual understanding, a shared confidence that you’ll do anything for each other. It’s a wonderful feeling, that sense of security, support, and structure.

What happens when the give and take stops and suddenly it’s just take take take? When the support caves in and the structure begins to feel more like shackles? That is a friendship that’s not worth the effort. To put it simply, you’ve got a fake friend on your hands. Everyone has come across a fake friend at some point in their lives.

1. They make you feel guilty for not hanging out with them. 2. They constantly make promises they can never keep. 3. They expect you to drop everything so you can cater to their needs. 4. They always puff up their own importance. 5. They mock you and compliment you at the same time because…passive-aggressive. 6. They gossip endlessly about others. 7. They only see you as a means to an end.

Suge Knight Sues Chris Brown

For the second time in a week Chris Brown is dealing with a legal dilemma, as it was learned on Monday, June 27, that incarcerated rap mogul Suge Knight has filed a lawsuit against the troubled singer. The suit, which also names the owners of the 1Oak L.A. nightclub, aims at holding the establishment accountable for an alleged failure to take the proper security precautions on the night he was shot while attending a party hosted by Brown. It also pins health crises suffered since the incident on the injuries he suffered in the 2014 shooting.

According to paper work submitted to the L.A. County Superior Court, Knight claims Brown is "a known gang associate," and he also pointed to Chris having a "well-documented track record of hosting events and/or parties in which violence frequently erupted," as warranting heightened security.

Knight accuses Brown and the club of negligence, placing blame for the bullet wounds he received to the abdomen, chest and arm on how the event was organized. The imprisoned 51-year-old also ties his actions during the 2015 murder and attempted murder he is being charged for, alleging that he was triggered by a traumatic fear for his life that lingered over from the shooting at Brown's MTV Video Music Awards pre-party.

Knight is a two time felon. As such, one more felony away from being slammed with a three-strike sentence. He faces 25 years to life if convicted in the restaurant parking lot incident he is currently being held over. The trial is set to begin on August 1st.

Joe Budden vs Meek Mill

Joe Budden sent out a tweet aimed at Meek Mill regarding something he said about the rapper last summer. Budden simply wrote “I’m not off ‘barbs get him’…F*** Meek” earlier today, responding to a tweet sent by the Philly rapper last year where told his girlfriend’s followers to get at him. The conflict erupted when Joe mocked Meek Mill being in love with Nicki Minaj. “Meek’s music is too hard for me to look at him with this f***ing sappy f**k sh*t,” said Budden on his podcast last year.

He clarified his statement to Hot 97 later that month during an interview with Hot 97. “This is what happens on podcasts,” he said. “You half-heartedly speak on things that might be a hot topic, right? So, the awards came on and the camera guy just showed a lot of shots of Meek blissfully smiling in love. I thought that was interesting. I thought it was funny. It was funny to me. So we joked about it on the podcast.”

50 Cent vs P. Diddy

50 Cent attacked Puff Daddy in a string of Instagram posts this week which showed that many of Bad Boy’s former artists made major life changes after working with the label’s head.

50 Cent alluded to Loon, Ma$e, G Dep, Shyne and even the Notorious B.I.G. “dancing with the devil.” The posts appear to be promo for his EFFEN Vodka brand which he markets by competing fiercely with Puffy’s Ciroc. However, the “I’m the Man” rapper took it pretty far this time.
