How Society Sees Black Educated Men

It's an open secret among African-American men and boys that people are often afraid of them. For black Americans, experiences of racial discrimination vary by education level and gender.

A majority of black adults say they have been discriminated against because of their race, but this varies by education. Roughly eight-in-ten blacks with at least some college experience (81%) say they’ve experienced racial discrimination, at least from time to time, including 17% who say this happens regularly. Among blacks with a high school education or less, these shares are lower – 69% and 9%, respectively.

As of lately, even I have been running into altercation dealing with racism. Being educated and a employer in my city has come with many challenges. I have received backlash from both Whites and Blacks.

Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez Pardoned By Trump

As one of his final acts as president of the United States, Donald Trump issued more than 140 pardons and commutations on Tuesday night (Jan. 19). Among those granted clemency were Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, early Death Row Records backer Michael "Harry-O" Harris and rappers Lil Wayne and Kodak Black, according to the White House.

Perez was granted a full pardon for being involved in a conspiracy to distribute narcotics, the White House said, a conviction that is more than 25 years old. "Since her conviction, Ms. Perez has taken full accountability for her actions and has turned her life around," the White House said in a statement. "She has been gainfully employed and has been an advocate for criminal justice reform in her community."

"I'm grateful to have received a pardon and to have formally closed that chapter of my life in the eyes of the law," Perez said in a statement provided to Billboard. "I have taken full accountability for my mistakes from 25 years ago, but I also take tremendous pride in my personal growth, perseverance and accomplishments since then. This pardon reinforces my lifelong commitment to advocate for criminal justice reform and social justice initiatives."

Why Is Google Helping To Bring Down R. Kelly?

A newly unsealed court document related to an alleged associate of singer R Kelly shows how Google can hand over data about what people search to the police.

The court filing was submitted in July but unsealed on Wednesday. It details a police investigation into an arson attack on a car outside of the home of a witness involved in the ongoing sexual racketeering case against R Kelly.

The court document showed that investigators linked Michael Williams — a family relation of R Kelly's former publicist — to the arson by sending something called a "keyword warrant" to Google. Specifically, police asked Google for any data on "users who had searched the address of the residence close in time to the arson."

Rihanna, Ariana Grande And More Sign Police Reform Letter

Rihanna, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Ariana Grande, Meek Mill, the Jonas Brothers and many more signed an open letter on Monday, asking New York legislators to repeal section 50-A of New York State's Civil Rights Law.

The statute currently keeps police personnel files confidential and basically out of the public's reach.

"We mourn the killing of George Floyd and the unnecessary loss of so many black lives before his. We must hold accountable those who violate the oath to protect and serve, and find justice for those who are victim to their violence."

Remy Ma Is Facing Four Alleged Assault Charges

Remy Ma is back in the eyes of law enforcement again. It's now being reported that prosecutors have now formally filed four charges against her for the alleged assault on L&HH star Brittney Taylor.

The Bronx emcee has been charged with 2 counts of assault in the third degree, 1 count of aggravated harassment in the second degree, and 1 count of harassment in the second degree, all of which are misdemeanors.

One new development in the case is that prosecutors have updated the time of which the alleged attack occurred, moving it up an hour to align with the time that Remy was in Irving Plaza for the benefit concert.

Remy has been offered a deal to plead guilty to the assault to have the other charges dropped, a plea that would also require her to enter a long-term anger management program.

TMZ reports that Kooda B was indicted after Tekashi spoke with investigators and revealed Kooda to be the trigger man. Tekashi was pinned to the shooting after posting a video that seemingly showed him ordering the hit on Keef's cousin Tadoe, which was a key piece of evidence in the case.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Kooda B was paid $10,000 to shoot Chief Keef, who was left unharmed in the incident. McKenzie has yet to be arrested, while Ellison, who was arrested for kidnapping and assaulting Tekashi, and Butler are expected to appear in court on Wednesday (January 30) afternoon.

Chief Keef Home Robbed

Chief Keef
Law enforcement sources say the suspects jumped over a wall at the home and threw bricks to break a window. At least one of the suspects is believed to have made it inside Chief Keef's house and made off with money.

Luckily, plainclothes police officers were near the area when the break-in occurred and were able to stop the burglary, although one suspect did fire a shot, which didn't hit anyone. Police later caught two of the suspects, while one fled in a car. The two suspects have since been booked on burglary and weapons charges.

According to Giudice's attorney, James Leonard Jr., Chief Keef's use of the image is an invasion of the reality star's privacy. The lawyer argued that Guidice should be compensated financially for the project's artwork.

French Montana Robbed

According to TMZ, at least two armed robbers broke into the rapper’s Calabasas crib, which is located in a guard gated community, early Tuesday morning (July 31). Law enforcement officials were summoned to French’s mansion around 9 a.m., several hours after the crime occurred. French and others were reportedly home at the time. It’s unclear if anyone was injured, but no one was hospitalized.

It’s unknown what, if anything, the thieves took. Cops are still investigating and don’t have any suspects yet. French purchased the 7,229 square-foot compound from Selena Gomez, who sold it for $3.3 million in 2016 after the house became a frequent target of stalkers.

Did August Alsina Flash A Gun At Fans

Singer August Alsina can't buy groceries without getting hounded by fans and that's why he allegedly flashed a gun to get them to finally back off. Sources say when August left the store, the group followed him. We're told August grabbed a gun from his car, slid it down his waistband and showed the butt of the gun as the group approached.

Law enforcement sources August was shopping at Food 4 Less around 9 PM Wednesday in the San Fernando Valley when 3 chicks and a guy hounded him to take pics with them. August was long gone by the time cops showed up, but law enforcement sources say cops determined the singer did NOT point the gun at the group or make any verbal threats.

Dave Chappelle Talks Police Brutality

A city council meeting in Yellow Springs, Ohio had the town's most famous resident show up to speak on the matter of policing recently, when Dave Chappelle appeared to share his unique experience of having grown up there and seen the change in the culture of local law enforcement.

Citizens of the small liberal Dayton suburb had been convening to review a scandal that has rocked the town, leading to the resignation of Police Chief David Hale, to "heal the rift" caused after officers violently broke up the annual New Years Ball Drop, in the early hours of January 1. The department drew heat, with protesters livid over the use of their cruisers to disperse the crowd and the subsequent tasering of two black men.

Chappelle spoke of being present at the event, but having left early because the vibe wasn't right. After imparting his gratitude to officers who have been nothing but courteous to him since his return to settle down in the place he was reared in, Chappelle laid into the force, reminding residents on hand that there was a time when it felt as though each officer had a personal connection with the families in the community; a sense he no longer gets. "Now, we're being policed by what feels like an alien force," he said, calling the New Year's Eve incident a "huge gaffe."

Chappelle then turned to politics, encouraging the council to consider the position Yellow Springs is in to shine as an example of progressive policing in the current political atmosphere. "I would beseech the council to look deeply and to look hard, because this is a golden opportunity. Literally, it could kill the game. In this Trump era, it gives us an opportunity to show everybody that local politics reigns supreme," he said. "We can make our corner of the world outstanding. So I'm just begging you to find a candidate that matches the culture of this town, which is renowned for being incredibly unique."

After the resignation of Commissioner Hale, one of the officers involved in the New Year's Eve incident, Allison Saurber, also resigned. The second officer said to have taken part in the tasing, R.J. Hawley, was reportedly injured at the function and has been on administrative leave since.
