Dame Dash has finally been divested of his 1/3 share of Roc-A-Fella Records after a long-planned auction, and there’s a surprising new owner: the state of New York.
On Monday (Oct. 7), in an interview on the American Nu Network YouTube channel, Dash reflected on the project, which was released in 2002 and paired two of the biggest names in music at the time.
Jay-Z has had an interesting relationship with Lil Wayne and Drake, which has stemmed over the last 20 years.
Initially, Weezy F. Baby considered Jay his idol and biggest inspiration - and almost signed to Def Jam and Rocnation / Roc-a-fella Records (Jay-Z's label) - before Birdman put a stop to it. Jay-Z mentioned this in a 2013 interview on The Breakfast Club with Charlemagne.
Jay-Z is staking legal claim to the master recordings of his iconic debut album ... and it's a "buyer beware" notice, of sorts, to anyone getting ready to drop more than $1 million to buy Damon Dash's share of Roc-A-Fella Records.
Jay's attorneys just made a legal filing that might normally fly under the radar, but here's why it's suddenly very relevant. As we first reported, Dame's third of Roc-A-Fella is going up for auction later this month, and the label's only real asset is Jay-Z's 1996 album, "Reasonable Doubt."
Lupe Fiasco thinks Drake should buy Damon Dash's share of Jay-Z's debut studio album Reasonable Doubt after the music executive announced he was taking offers for it.
On Friday, the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder hopped on Instagram with a post announcing he was selling his one-third share of Hov's freshman effort and explained he was only entertaining serious inquiries. "This shit is for sale 1/3 … only real inquiries only," he wrote under a picture of the album cover.
A New York judge has reportedly ordered Dame Dash to sell his shares in Roc-A-Fella to pay a $823,000 judgment to movie producer Josh Weber.
This comes after Dame sued Weber for defamation and copyright infringement from a dispute over the 2016 film "Dear Frank." Dash was fired as the film's producer, and he claimed that Weber was trying to sell the film independently under the new title, "The List." This led to Dash's lawsuit against Weber, which he ultimately lost and was ordered to pay the six-figure judgment.
Coach K recently went viral after he claimed that Jeezy was more relevant in the hip-hop space than Jay-Z at one point in his career due to the perceived lack of fans in the South. Now, former Roc-A-Fella Records artist and friend of Jay-Z—Memphis Bleek has chimed in with his thoughts.
Jay-Z has had many hit songs. Hard Knock Life is the third studio album by American rapper Jay-Z. It was released on September 29, 1998, by Roc-A-Fella Records and Def Jam Recordings.
In light of Memphis Bleek speaking about his longtime friendship with Jay-Z on "Drink Champs," we take a look back at his 2014 interview. After being asked about his thoughts on Game naming him one of the worst rappers, Memphis Bleek went on to react to Jay-Z and other Roc-A-Fella artists being linked to the Illuminati.
Vlad asked Beanie Sigel if he remembers how the beef between Roc-A-Fella and The Lox started. Beanie explained that there were subliminal shots being thrown from both sides. He went on to point out the remix of R. Kelly's "Fiesta," which featured The Lox, as a catalyst in the beef.
Roc-A-Fella co-founder Kareem "Biggs" Burke joins us to discuss the return of his label's famous Nike Air Force 1 collab, hip-hop's influence on sneaker culture, and his thoughts on shoe deals for Jay-Z, Drake, Kanye West, and Justin Timberlake.
Both Quality Control Records and Roc-A-Fella Records carry a shelf of hits under their belt. Roc Nation today is a force no-one can control, while Quality Control has just been sold for $300 million.

If you were a fan of hip hop in the late 90s and early to mid-noughties, then Rocawear will need no introduction. Items from the fashion label, co-founded by rapper Jay-Z, were as common a sight in music videos as groups of scantily-clad ladies popping bottles of Cristal in a hot tub.
While Beanie Sigel and Jay-Z are on friendly terms these days, the two former Roc-A-Fella artists have had their fair share of issues in the past.
Sigel also dove into how he first became connected to JAY-Z, citing his friend Boo-Bonic of Philly’s Most Wanted making the introduction. Soon after his first meeting with JAY, Sigel was given a record deal.
Juelz Santana talks about sticking with his mentor, Cam'ron, during his trying times with Epic Records, while they were laying down the groundwork for The Diplomats. From there, he talks about Cam'ron signing with Roc-A-Fella Records and the impact that the signing had on their crew before talking about one of Cam'ron's biggest hits, "Oh Boy," and how that record helped introduce him to the mainstream.

They signed some of the biggest artists, becoming leading forces in the music industry, with billionaire Jay-Z as their largest.
