The RZA has confirmed a second season for Wu-Tang: An American Saga.
The Abbott came bearing good news regarding the Clan’s biographical drama series. In an exclusive interview with HipHopDX he said the show will return this fall. “American Saga will start airing in September,” he revealed. “That story will be complete for the season. Then I’m looking to get back in a director’s chair. I feel like that’s important for me to continue to tell our stories through cinema.” He went on to hint that production is still ongoing. “That’s going to take some time to develop a new script. But I’m having a great time finishing up the new season of American Saga.”
Lets take a flashback in time when music was fun for everybody. "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" is the second single by Ol' Dirty Bastard, from the album Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version (1995).
It was produced by fellow Wu-Tang Clan member RZA. The song was ranked number 59 on VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of Hip Hop. The video shows a depiction of the 1970s, in which large afros and platform shoes were considered fashionable.

There calling him the leader of Wu-Tang Clan. RZA, or Bobby, as he is known to close friends and colleagues, had a particular way of putting beats to razer-sharp lyrics that made you feel part of a song’s creative process. Fans feel RZA’s music, both from Wu-Tang and his solo and collaborative efforts, on a cellular level.
An urban-bred intellectual who expresses through a mic or camera lens, RZA is considered prophetic to his community and perhaps a unicorn to mainstream culture. With a penchant for Eastern philosophy as is evident in the name Wu-Tang Clan and lyrical nods to Shaolin Kung Fu, RZA shared, “One thing I’m looking forward to doing in the near future… I’ve never been to India, and I have to check that one off,” referring to the top item on his bucket list. I recommended he connect with Indian author and yogi, Jaggi Vasudev, also known as Sadhguru, when he makes the trip. RZA is so well-read and well-versed, it felt novel giving him someone and something beyond his scope to Google.
Directed by RZA of Wu Tang, the movie is set after Hurricane Katrina, four boyhood friends out of options reluctantly accept an offer to pull off a dangerous heist in the heart of New Orleans. The film was released on August 21, 2020, by Well Go USA Entertainment, receiving mixed reviews from critics.
In December 2017, it was announced Terrence Howard, Wesley Snipes, T.I., Eiza González, Demetrius Shipp Jr. Shameik Moore, Joel David Moore, Kat Graham, Rob Morgan, Keean Johnson, Denzel Whitaker, Isaiah Washington and Sam Daly had joined the cast of the film, with RZA directing.
The Wu-Tang Clan had dominated the '90s both as a group and as individual artists -- thanks in no small part to Ghostface Killah, whose 1996 debut album Iroman is among the Wu-Tang's finest work -- but by the end of that decade, there were serious doubts in the hip hop community that the group had anything left to say. Ghostface wasn't giving up that easy, though.
He tapped the Wu-Tang's production mastermind RZA to helm about half the tracks on this 21-song album, and he matched the production with some of the best rapping of his career. It's a bolder, richer, more modern-sounding album than Ironman, and it helped the Wu come into the new decade swinging. Would they be the timeless group they are today had this album not saved them from becoming '90s relics? Maybe not.
The pair are busy practicing this week for their Twitch debut on Saturday, where they will play and compete in a chess tournament hosted by Chess.com and Hennessy. It’s to benefit Black, Latinx and Asian small businesses struggling with the pandemic. GZA says he still remembers vividly to this day when his cousin taught his 9-year-old self how to play chess.
“I guess I remember it well because he had a black and red checkerboard, but the pieces were like clear plastic neon,” GZA tells The Washington Post in a video interview, who said he never forgot the lesson. “And they were weird colored, and they were caked in green. And he showed me the names of the pieces and how they moved.”
WWE allowed plenty of Superstars to make their way to the ring with special music at WrestleMania. For some reason they rejected RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan’s offer to add new lyrics to Batista’s track for no charge.
