Why Is Soda More Expensive Than Beer

Took a walk down to one of our local stores in Lima, Ohio and came to realize that my two cans of soda cost more than my one can of beer. Although beer and soda are both carbonated, the process for brewing beer is nothing like making soda.

Before we get into all of that, my thing is! Soda is mostly used by young adults and beer by grown adults. So why charge them more? On top of that, lets not get into the Government taking away candy with food stamps.

The law around selling alcoholic beverages plays an important role as well. Especially as production levels scale to massive quantities, the differences in prices become, in absolute terms, significantly smaller.

Soda is made by purifying water, pumping sugar and flavor into it, and then putting the solution through a carbonator which increases the carbon dioxide pressure of the water, putting bubbles in it. Besides ingredients, factory time is what drives the price of most products up.

Beer is made through brewing with fermentation. This starts with a brewer taking barley and extracting sugars from it by boiling. This initial process might be more time consuming and more energy-intense than the whole soda process.

The beer is then carefully bottled without adding air or contamination. It still must complete the fermentation process in the sealed bottle over some time. This is called bottle conditioning.

So in other words, beer takes longer and soda is more machine work, why is soda more expensive? Or am I just shopping at the wrong stores? Leave your comments I would like to know your thoughts on this topic.

Dead Baby Wakes Up

A newborn baby, declared dead by a hospital in the Indian capital Delhi, was found to be alive while they were on their way to his funeral. The parents said they noticed one of the babies squirming inside the plastic bag that doctors placed the infants in.

The incident has sparked outrage and a debate over the quality of private healthcare which is often costly. According to the twins' grandfather, the stunned family rushed the newborn to a nearby hospital where they were told that their baby was still alive.

In a statement to reporters, Max hospital said they were "shaken" and "concerned" over the incident, and added that the doctor has been asked to go on leave, pending an inquiry. This is the second instance in recent months where a private hospital in India has been called out for negligent care. Last month, a girl died of dengue fever in another hospital and the parents allege they were overcharged for her treatment.

Can Beer Be Made From Recycled Wastewater?

Stone Brewing unveiled its "Full Circle Pale Ale," which was made using recycled water from San Diego's Pure Water project.

This was all done in the name of sustainability, the brewery said, noting how the historic drought in California affected the state's water sources. San Diego's Pure Water project — which aims to provide 30 million gallons (110 million liters) of recycled water a day to the city by 2021 — offered the brewery an opportunity to use a new water source to brew beer, while also helping raise awareness for the project.

Teen Urinates On Crowd

A 15-year-old boy is in hot water after soaking people with his urine from on high as he rode the Las Vegas SlotZilla zipline. The teen’s pee rained down from the 12-story ride, modeled after a slot machine, as he glided across 850 feet at 40 mph on the Fremont Street Experience on Wednesday.

“Like, a lot of liquid coming from above us, just showering from head to toe, our back, top of the head dripping down,” Cazimere Ferguson, a tourist from Hawaii told KVVU-TV. “We thought it was some sort of water maybe some drinks or beer.”

Outlaw Bikers Join Fight Against ISIS

Three members of an outlaw motorcycle gang are currently in Iraq to fight terrorist organization Islamic State, also known as ISIS, ISIL or IS. The three men are “stationed” in Mosul and fighting alongside the Kurds. Wars are raging throughout the Middle East and attract not just religious terrorists, but bikers and gangsters as well.

No Surrender MC is one of the Netherlands’ biggest outlaw biker clubs with membership numbers that rival the Dutch Hells Angels. The club was founded in 2013 by Klaas Otto. They became notorious for making several well-known Dutch gangsters prominent members, including Willem Holleeder, the man behind the kidnapping of beer tycoon Freddy Heineken, and Willem van Boxtel, founder and former president of the Dutch Hells Angels who was kicked out of the club.

The wars in the Middle East are attracting a wide variety of people with all sorts of motives. Young men from all over Europe, the United States, and as far away as Australia have joined up with terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq. Some of them did so to fight dictator Bashar al-Assad, others to fight the West and establish an Islamic State. In turn, mercenaries and Westerners joined up to wage war against ISIS, which is seen as the world’s premier terrorist threat.

This summer, a documentary showed how a Danish gang boss joined the fight against Assad. “On the streets of Copenhagen he is known as Big A, a convicted drug trafficker and the leader of one of Denmark's most notorious organized crime gangs. But on the frontline in northern Syria, Abderozzak Benarabe (left) is just another have-a-go jihadi, a man who joined the fight against Bashar al-Assad through a mix of restlessness, curiosity and a need for some kind of personal redemption.”

Top 3 Pizza Restaurants In Charlotte, NC

Charlotte, North Carolina is one of the greatest places to eat pizzaThe Wrap-Up Magazine has released the top the pizza restaurants in Charlotte, North Carolina. First up was Tony's pizza.

In the great New York style vs. everything else argument, this is a place that you can use as a great argument in favor of the thin, floppy New York pizza.

The CLT location of Tony's is just one of those old school, sit-and-have-some-love kinds of pizza parlors that are sadly becoming a thing of the past. The pizza, garlic bread and anything else you have the privilege of trying will just taste like smiles.

Second on the list is Riccio’s pizza villa. While the rest of the Italian menu is bang-up and great, you're going to want all of their garlic knots. Just the entire lot of it -- back the truck on up to the table. The pizza itself holds great company as some of the best around. Riccio’s is why you go out of your way for independent and local business.

Last but sure not least, is Luigi's Pizza restaurant. Places like this are what the world needs more of. Walk in, say "gimmie two slices and a beer" and bing, pow, boom -- there you go.

They're not messing around, just giving you the serious New York style pizza that you shouldn't live another day without. The friendly staff, laid back atmosphere and super-reasonable prices are all great justification for having every dinner for the rest of your life here.
