On Sunday (Sep. 24), the R&B icon announced that he’ll be headlining Apple Music’s halftime show for Super Bowl LVIII. In addition, he revealed the title of his long-awaited album, Coming Home, and its release date of February 11, 2024.
Super Bowl LVIII will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, which is where Usher currently holds a residency until the end of the year.
“It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before,” Usher said in a statement. “Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon.”
JAY-Z added, “Usher is the ultimate artist and showman. Ever since his debut at the age of 15, he’s been charting his own unique course. Beyond his flawless singing and exceptional choreography, Usher bares his soul.”
Coming Home will be Usher’s ninth studio album, his first since 2016’s Hard II Love. He released a joint tape with Zaytoven, A in 2018. Coming Home is lead by “Good Good” featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage. Usher has also released new music prior including “Boyfriend“, “Glu“, and more.
Usher’s Super Bowl performance will follow Rihanna‘s Super Bowl LVII halftime performance earlier this year. It marked the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show to date. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and special guest 50 Cent performed in 2022 which earned an Emmy.
