Dame Dash opened up about his relationship with Aaliyah while on the That's F***ed Up podcast, which led to questions about R. Kelly.
Dame reacted to being asked if he thinks R. Kelly should be in jail, and Dame explained, "I think he’s where he belongs. I know Aaliyah, so I know what he did. I can’t be objective about that. You know what I’m saying? But he definitely seemed like he needed some help."
Dame went on to reveal that Aaliyah told him to stay away from R. Kelly, including when Kelly and Jay-Z collaborated on songs. After knowing what Kelly did to Aaliyah, Dame said he was disappointed in Jay for doing The Best of Both Worlds album.
