Tyler Perry and his content have bought many eyes to the BET platform, and now it appears Perry is in talks to buy a majority stake in the company.
Paramount is looking to sell its majority stake in BET, which reportedly includes BET, the BET+ streaming service, and VH1. Sources that spoke to The Hollywood Reporter revealed Perry began talks to buy out Paramount, allowing him to own the staple television company where most of his shows are played.
THR noted that others are interested, including Byron Allen, which was confirmed by a representative for ‘The Weather Channel’ controller. The source said Paramount wants to maintain a minority stake in BET if a deal goes through. Stay tuned for more details.
