Dave Chappelle has weighed in on Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars, saying it showed 'he's just as ugly as the rest of us.'
After Will Smith made headlines for slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars, the comedian has found his own way to address the drama.
During the 94th annual Academy Awards, Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith‘s shaved head when he suggested she should be cast in G.I. Jane 2. After Pinkett Smith, who has alopecia, rolled her eyes at the comment, her husband approached the stage and slapped the Saturday Night Live alum.
Chappelle doesn’t completely condemn Smith for his actions, noting, “I see myself in both men.”
At that same show, Chris Rock brought up the situation again and still doesn’t think that the G.I Jane joke –which poked fun at Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head because of alopecia– was all that bad.
While Rock has no problem using the moment as material, Will Smith revealed in his apology that he’s still shown no interest in speaking to Smith directly.
