While speaking to DJ Akademiks, Hit-Boy spoke about why he hasn’t worked with other west coast artists and wondered why. “The music s**t is weird,” said the producer while speaking about Roddy Ricch.
“The first beat I ever played n***as, the first song we ever did within 10 minutes of knowing each other, won a Grammy. How the f**k have we not locked in on more music. I don’t get it. Maybe it’s not for me to get,” Hit-Boy said of the past work.
The producer noted the night he met Roddy Ricch was the night he played “Racks In The Middle.” Hit-Boy said he had a version of the song with an unreleased Roddy verse he planned to drop.

The version with just Roddy Ricch on it was supposed to drop, but a meeting with Nipsey Hussle led to the song winning a Grammy. The producer said, “At the end of the day, the first muthaf**king beat I ever played for you in the history of life is ‘Racks in the Middle,’ my n***a, like pull back up what the f**k.”
While speaking about Kendrick Lamar, Hit-Boy said, “I don’t be understanding how n***as don’t be having more songs, but it’s not up to me.” He continued, “It’s like n***as around n***as, whatever the f**k it is.” The producer concluded: “It’s all love and respect man. Kendrick know what the f**k he doing. If it’s meant for n***as to lock in, it’s gonna happen but I do definitely one million f**king percent feel like it’s no way we ain’t gonna make some life-changing s**t if we really do tap in.”
Hit-Boy and Nas recently dropped ‘King’s Disease III,’ and received a lot of praise for the project. Despite that, Hit-Boy spoke about his past work, mentioning Roddy Ricch and Kendrick Lamar.
