The U.S. government has sold the one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin to an anonymous buyer for an undisclosed price, according to NPR.
The album was previously owned by "Pharma Bro" Martin Shkreli, who is currently serving seven years in prison for securities fraud. Shkreli, who purchased the album in 2015 for a reported $2 million, was forced to hand the album over to the United States in 2018 as a part of a $7.4 million forfeiture judgment.
Jacquelyn M. Kasulis, the Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, announced the sale of the Wu-Tang album on Tuesday (July 27). She stated, "Shkreli has been held accountable and paid the price for lying and stealing from investors to enrich himself. With today's sale of this one-of-a-kind album, his payment of the forfeiture is now complete."
