Jennifer Lopez Talks Therapy and How To Love Herself

Even though Jennifer Lopez has always projected confidence, she said it took her a while to find out what self-love truly is. While talking to Jay Shetty on Coach Conversations, J. Lo revealed how therapy helped her find herself in a way she never imagined.

"I remember when I was going through therapy, in the beginning, kind of in my late 30s, and there was a lot of talk about loving yourself," she said. "And I was like, 'I love myself.' But obviously, I was doing all these things, like my personal relationships didn't seem like I was loving myself."

"I didn't even understand the concept of it," the “All I Have” singer added. "It took time and it's a journey, and it's still a journey for me."

These days, she’s gearing up for her upcoming wedding to former baseball player Alex Rodriguez.

With everything she’s learned from her past relationships, J. Lo said she’s found out what her true “calling” is, and that’s to “empower, inspire and entertain” people with her music. However, she knows that there will always be “a lot of pressure around [finding your purpose]" in life, so she has some advice for people who are still trying to find their way.

“The most important thing is you have to listen to yourself, and the words that you tell yourself," she explained. "What you say and what you think — and I tell this to my kids all the time — becomes your reality."

That is some sound advice. If you want to hear the rest of her interview with Shetty, then click the play button below.
