Louie Rankin Of The Movie "Belly" Passes Away


Famed actor and Grammy Award-winning dancehall artist Louie Rankin died in a car crash in Ontario, Canada. After news of his death was made public, Rankin's estate issued a statement confirming his passing.

In 1992, Rankin (born Leonard Forbes) commanded the attention of music lovers with his hit single "Typewriter." From there, the Jamaica-born entertainer performed on the silver screen in legendary roles such as Lennox a.k.a. Ox in Belly, and Teddy Bruckshut in Shottas.

A few more details and a photo of the car crash that killed Louie Rankin have emerged ... it appears the collision killed him instantly say's TMZ. Rankin was pronounced dead at the scene, while the truck driver suffered no physical injuries. Based on a photo of the car wreck, obtained by TMZ, the passenger vehicle is completely torn to shreds. Cops are still investigating the exact cause of the collision.

Louie starred alongside Nas and DMX in the 1998 crime drama "Belly" ... and his character, Ox, was a Jamaican kingpin. Born and raised in Jamaica, Louie was also a Jamaican dancehall and reggae artist ... and he released a huge single in 1992 called "Typewriter," which won a Grammy.
