The English rock band formed in London in 1968 consisted of vocalist Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones and drummer John Bonham to form the group Led Zeppelin.
After the accidental death of drummer John Bonham, Led Zeppelin made the difficult decision to break up in 1980. Its been said that Led Zeppelin created the overall blueprint of a rock band.
Essentially Led Zeppelin had some sort of influence on a large majority of popular musicians and groups. They were many things but everything they did was artistic.
It was voted in 2000 by VHS as the #3 song on its list of "Greatest Rock Songs" and landed the #31 spot on Rolling Stone magazine's "Greatest Songs of All Time" list. "Stairway to Heaven" was the most requested song on FM radio in the 1970s.
