Lil Wayne celebrated his 34th birthday on Tuesday [September 27], and as might be expected for one of the most celebrated artists in music, he received a lot of birthday love, with everyone from his ex-wife, Toya Wright, to estranged mentor Birdman honoring him on social media. He also received a deep shout out from Young Money titan Drake, who gave the legendary New Orleans rapper credit for helping spawn his career.
“Everything I got is because of God and you,” Drake wrote via Instagram. “Happy birthday to my brother. Thanks for believing in all of us when you didn’t have to. YM we still alive Free C5.”
Fans might note that Drake closed his message by calling for the release of Tha Carter V. The world might not have to wait too much longer before Cash Money Records puts the long awaited album out, as a recent court ruling got the ball rolling in the direction of resolving Wayne and Birdman's bitter legal dispute. The Cash Money mogul was given a month to hand over a full record detailing how the $70 million Wayne was promised a share of was spent after a judge determined that the 22,000 pages of documents previously released were insufficient. While the judgement proved to be a set-back for Birdman, it didn't keep him from wishing Wayne a happy birthday, as he went about flooding his Instagram page with blessings for the man he's long referred to as his son.
