Ackquille Pollard aka Bobby Shmurda has been in jail since December 2014. According to XXL Mag, the charges brought against the rapper include two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, conspiracy to commit murder in the second degree, reckless endangerment, and one count of using drug paraphernalia. Shmurda’s bail was set at two million dollars, and has been appealed seven times by the rapper and his legal team. However, each time he appealed, he was denied.
Since then, a new judge was appointed to the case and decided to split up all of the young men who were arrested along with Shmurda, and try the groups on different court dates. Ahead of the 21-year-old’s trial which is scheduled to be on May 11, he has been moved from Rockland County Jail to an undisclosed facility until the court date.
This news comes after Bobby Shmurda and his team decided to sue the NYPD for an alleged false arrest on gun and drug charges. The rapper claims that the cops were chanting the lyrics to his songs while they were running through and searching the apartment he was in, which was his friend’s home. The rapper singled out one officer, Douglas Corso — claiming him and other police officers kicked in the door of his friend’s home illegally with no search warrant on site.
