Would You Make An Appearance For #300k

Carey’s kicking off December with an appearance Tuesday night at a Pier 1 pop up store in New York, where Confidenti@l has learned she’s being paid a whopping $300,000 to attend the event for just one hour. Our favorite little Christmas elf is already spreading holiday fear wherever she goes, this time making demands for an appearance which could land her on the naughty list.

Our insider adds that Carey gave final approval on the invite before it went out, requesting that she be called “The Queen of Christmas,” at the “Pier 1 Imports: Christmas Pop-Up Storybook” at 503 Broadway. The invite didn’t stop there, reminding potential guests that they will be joining “the biggest selling female recording artist of all time,” who we hear will arrive around 7:30 p.m. — more than 90-minutes after the event starts.

Carey is also in town to appear at a Dec. 5 concert at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, “Hot for the Holidays featuring Busta Rhymes & Friends” and has been doing promotional appearances while here. But since holding a grudge against one network that burned her last year, Carey --who celebrates Christmas with the enthusiasm of a dozen sprightly reindeer on the loose -- appeared on Nov. 27 on a pre-taped “Good Morning America” interview segment with Amy Robach to promoting her new children’s book, “All I want for Christmas is You.” The songstress was also there to push her new movie, “A Christmas Melody,” set to air on the Hallmark Channel.

She chose ABC to hawk her goods in the segment taped on Nov. 11, because of last year’s debacle with NBC, when disgruntled techies working for the Peacock network leaked a painful vocals-only recording of her Rockefeller Center tree lighting appearance. Apparently they were miffed because she had kept them waiting for three hours in the cold. Carey did appear on a float at the Thanksgiving Day Parade last week, which aired on NBC, but we’re told that’s because it was a Macy’s production. No word yet on if Carey will change her mind and schedule an NBC appearance.
