The mission for the entertainment business was to stop Lil Nas X from entering into the Country music category, but this just takes the cake away from the young artist.
Lil Nas X is being sued over a song he released five months before he hit it big with "Old Town Road" and the company going after him is $25 million in damages.
The company then claims that in June of 2019, Sony acquired the rights to all of Lil Nas X's songs, including "Carry On." The Music Force claims that Sony "knew or should have known ... to make sure all elements of 'Carry On' had been cleared."
The Music Force is suing for copyright infringement and they are also asking for the court to rule that Lil Nas X's song is "a joint work" owned by The Music Force and the defendants. They are seeking $10 million in damages and then an additional $15 million in punitive damages.
