We need to teach our youth the true on were music they listen to comes from. I know Michael Jackson and R Kelly true fans know which song I am talking about. "You Are Not Alone" was one of Michael's greatest hits that was written by R Kelly himself.
The R&B ballad was written by American R&B singer R. Kelly for Michael Jackson in response to difficult times in his own personal life. Kelly sent a bare demo tape to Jackson, who liked the song and decided to produce it with him in Chicago.
The song was a commercial success. It holds a Guinness World Record as the first song in the 37-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 to debut at number one, and was later certified platinum by the RIAA.
Although the song was written by Kelly, Jackson was adamant that the production should be a collaborative effort among the two musicians. The tape sent to him had no harmony or modulations, so Jackson added a choir in the final portion and added a sense of climax and structure to the final piece.
R. Kelly recorded his own version of the song and put it on his critically acclaimed 2010 album Love Letter, he recorded it as a tribute to Jackson following his death. The song was a hidden bonus song on the album, shown as the final song on the album's track list. The song starts with Kelly paying tribute to Michael Jackson, saying "In loving memories of my hero... MJ".
Michael Jackson’s “You Are Not Alone” is creepier and sadder than you think. The majority of Michael Jackson’s 13 chart-topping solo hits are more than mere songs. They’re audio companions to videos etched into the hearts and minds of those old enough to remember The King Of Pop during his mighty reign.
Lounging semi-nude on a temple set that looks like something out of a porno, or maybe an orientation film at a discount day spa, MJ and his bride cuddle and giggle yet never actually kiss. There’s obvious affection but zero sexual chemistry.
R. Kelly wrote “You Are Not Alone” especially for Jackson, and he even went so far as to imitate Jackson’s quavering vocals in his demo. But the most shocking allegation came from a woman named Lizzette Martinez, who said that Michael Jackson’s hit “You Are Not Alone,” written by Kelly, is based on the sexual relationship she and Kelly had when she was just a teenager.
Backup singer Jovante Cunningham didn’t confirm Martinez’s account, but she did say that Kelly’s songs are grounded in reality. “In hindsight, all of the songs, they’re real stories,” said Cunningham. “They’re about different people during those times and different situations that were occurring with him. So, ‘Your Body’s Callin’, ‘Sex Me’, those are real stories. ‘Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number.’ He meant that.”
